Doctoral Research and Studies Doctoral Research and Studies: Contact Persons
For finding a supervisor of the dissertation project you might consider having a look at the list of the chairs of the Faculty of Law. You usually find hints at the fields of research and teaching on the sites of the chairs either explicitly (e.g. as “Forschungsinteressen”) or in the name of the professorship or by having a look at the publications ("Veröffentlichungen"; "Publikationen") of the head of the chair.
Usually it might be best for getting advise on questions concerning the admission and examination procedures at the office of the dean (Geschäftsstelle) by talking to Ms. Nadine Eckert or with the academic manager of the office of the dean, Dr. Rainer Keil (please make an appointment by writing an e-mail).
The Graduate Academy of Heidelberg University welcomes you with questions that concern doctoral research and studies at Heidelberg University, but not specifically those in law, such as enrollment, courses of the Graduate Academy, possibilities of financing doctoral research and studies and building networks with other doctoral students.
The Graduate Academy additionally announced:
“In March 2011, the office of ombudsperson was created to support doctoral candidates and supervisors at the University of Heidelberg. The two ombudsmen appointed to the office will act as confidential and impartial advisors and mediators to whom doctoral candidates and their supervisors can turn in cases of conflict surrounding their doctoral projects.”
