Contemporary and Future Aspects of the Rule of Law
Ongoing globalisation poses new challenges to the rule of law. Transnational threats are emerging that can be countered effectively only in cooperation with a multiplicity of national and international actors. As private stakeholders are increasingly serving public tasks, the validity of law and justice requires new reflections on the founding principles of the rule of law. The Hengstberger Chair for Contemporary Studies of the Rule of Law conducts research on current obstacles to the transnational rule of law and examines new legal instruments to guarantee justice in the years to come. The chair’s main research focus is on compliance in international human rights law.
